Moroto, Karamoja – As the race intensifies for the position of National Vice Chairperson of the Karamoja Youth League, one candidate is making waves with a bold, youth-focused agenda—Meron Amisa Isa.
In an exclusive interview with The Ankole Times, Meron shared her vision for youth empowerment in the Karamoja region, emphasizing values-driven leadership and a commitment to authenticity.
“True leadership is not defined by titles or positions,” she noted. “It is about character, vision, and the courage to act with integrity.”
Meron believes that great leaders are grounded in purpose and values. They stay true to their word, follow through on commitments—even in tough situations—and lead with clarity and consistency. She argues that integrity is the foundation of trust, and that authentic leaders serve as mirrors of the values they promote.
She also highlights the importance of self-awareness and vulnerability in leadership.
“Leaders don’t need to have all the answers,” she said. “What matters is the willingness to listen, learn, and grow alongside others.”
Meron encourages surrounding oneself with diverse and capable individuals, fostering collaboration rather than hierarchy. She also points out that accountability is a non-negotiable trait of effective leadership.
“A leader must be ready to take responsibility—not just for success, but for setbacks as well. Youth deserve leaders who are transparent, accessible, and accountable.”
Her candidacy comes at a time when many young people in Karamoja are calling for real change, inclusion, and meaningful representation. With her background in community engagement and youth mobilization, Meron Amisa Isa presents herself as more than a contender—she represents a new wave of transformational leadership rooted in values, vision, and action.
