As the 2026 general elections approach, momentum is building in Apac District with early endorsements for political aspirants. One of the prominent figures receiving support is Bernard Otim Odoc, a lawyer and National Resistance Movement (NRM) mobilizer, who is seeking to represent Maruzi North County in the 12th Parliament.
Popularly known as “Atedero pi Otedero” in Maruzi North, Otim was officially endorsed by NRM party leaders in Apac Sub-County during a meeting held on Saturday, April 12, 2025. The endorsement event was chaired by Mr. Etum Dickens, who commended Otim for his proactive and unifying approach to politics.
“Ever since Mr. Otim Bernard declared his intention to contest, we have witnessed a number of positive changes within the party, especially here in Apac Sub-County. The members are happy and ready to vote for him and for H.E. Gen. Yoweri Kaguta Museveni in 2026,” said one of the leaders.
Mr. Etum further stated:
“We have now made up our minds to let him go unopposed as our NRM flag bearer. We don’t want a party primary in Apac Sub-County.”
In addition to Otim, the leaders also endorsed H.E. President Museveni for the presidency, Hon. Agec Ambrose Opio for District Chairman, and Oscar Ogwang for District Councilor representing Apac Sub-County, among others.
Mr. Okello Tonny, a local leader from Atana Parish, urged other communities in Maruzi and Apac to support NRM, particularly Otim Odoc.
“We’ve been following this man for two years. He’s been consistent and dependable. This sends a message to other contenders who disappear and only show up during election time to create confusion—let them come and find us here,” he emphasized.
Bernard Otim Odoc, a lawyer by profession, is expected to contest and win decisively in both the NRM primaries and the 2026 general election.
