Ajuna Treasured, a 22-year-old from Ntungamo District, is contesting for the position of Youth MP for Central Uganda. He attended O-Level at Kajjansi Progressive Secondary School and A-Level at Old Kampala Secondary School in Kampala District.
Currently, he is pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Business Statistics at Makerere University Business School (MUBS).
Despite some claims questioning his Muganda identity, Ajuna has been a resident of Kansanga Kiggundu Zone since 2010. He is well-acquainted with the systems and challenges faced by youth in Kampala and across Central Uganda.
Ajuna Treasured’s manifesto focuses on combating youth unemployment in the region by promoting vocational skills training. He advocates for the establishment of more mental health centers in Uganda, as the country currently has only one major mental health hospital, Butabika. With rising drug addiction among youth, he believes that rehabilitation centers are essential.
He also aims to reform Uganda’s education system, which often causes students to drop out due to high fees and a weak curriculum that does not cater to individual interests. Ajuna is committed to constructing more mental health hospitals and leading campaigns to prevent mental health issues, including campaigns against drug abuse and early marriages.
Additionally, he emphasizes the need for health campaigns that promote the distribution of protective gear to combat AIDS and other sexually transmitted diseases.
Having served as a youth representative on the local council for several years, Ajuna has successfully initiated various youth projects. He plans to launch more initiatives starting this December and is eager to represent the views of the youth in Parliament.
Ajuna is a full member of the National Resistance Movement (NRM) and has a trusted background with the party. He believes in its manifesto and is committed to authenticity in his political beliefs, not seeking popularity through pretense. Currently, Agnes Kirabo is the Central Youth MP seat, having won the NRM party primaries in 2021.
Ajuna aims to address tribalism by presenting the views of Central Uganda’s youth in Parliament as a proud Munyankole.
