Dr. Sylvia currently serves as the Deputy Managing Director of Finance and Corporate Affairs at the National Water and Sewerage Corporation (NWSC). She is a Chartered Accountant and holds a Master of Business Administration (MBA, First Class/Distinction) from Maastricht School of Management in the Netherlands, specializing in Corporate Strategy and Economic Policy.
She also holds a Bachelor of Commerce Degree in Finance (Upper Second Class) from Makerere University, Uganda. Additionally, she is a member of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants in the UK.
Dr. Sylvia has undertaken various short courses in Team Building & Supervisory Skills, Marketing of Services, Corporate Governance, Procurement, Improvement of Utility Management, Reduction of Unaccounted for Water, Customer Care & Marketing, and Effective Debt Collection & Credit Control, among others.
She has worked on numerous NWSC external service assignments, providing technical assistance, advisory services, and training, with a focus on improving commercial and financial systems in Tanzania, Kenya, Ethiopia, and Zambia.

Dr. Sylvia has utilized her personal resources and her position as Deputy MD Finance and Corporate NWSC to influence several developments in Rukiga, including:
- Extending Clean Piped Water to Local Households: During a tour in Rukiga district, it was discovered that clean piped water coverage per household is at 90%, attributed to Dr. Sylvia’s efforts to prioritize clean water extension by NWSC.
- Supporting Education: Dr. Sylvia has provided numerous bursaries to individuals in her district who struggle to pay school fees. Additionally, she supports school fundraisers to promote education in Rukiga.
- Supporting Health: On November 12, 2023, Dr. Sylvia sponsored the training of all Village Health Teams (VHTs) in Rukiga district to refresh their knowledge and improve public health.
- Poverty Eradication: She has empowered her constituents with agricultural tools to help households overcome poverty and build a stable economy in Rukiga. Her message focuses on increasing production and ensuring food security.
- Supporting Sports and Entertainment: Dr. Sylvia organizes the Dr. Sylvia Cup in every subcounty to promote talent. Additionally, she hosted the parliamentary sports club on May 18, inspiring many young people in Rukiga.
With these accomplishments and more, Dr. Alinaitwe Sylvia remains a competent contender to drive development in Rukiga as she represents the district in the 12th Parliament. Sources indicate that people are eagerly awaiting the opportunity to vote for Dr. Sylvia massively, with some even speculating that she may be appointed a minister.
