Stakeholders in Kabale Warn of Lack of Sports Facilities Amid Friendly Match

Sports stakeholders in Kabale district are sounding the alarm about the severe lack of sports facilities, which is hindering their activities.

This concern was raised during a friendly match between Karubanda football legends and Kabale K Town Radio, organized by Wakiso Deputy RDC Sheikh Kassim Kamugisha.

The match, which took place in Southern Division, Kabale Municipality, ended with Karubanda football legends winning 3-1.

Sheikh Kamugisha emphasized the need for stakeholders to invest in sports infrastructure, highlighting that Kigezi is one of the regions in Uganda without a single sports facility capable of hosting local sports talent. He encouraged the younger generation to take up sports, citing its potential to generate income and promote physical fitness.

However, not everyone is optimistic. Mugisha Ian Ronald, Kabale district’s deputy speaker, lamented the sabotage of sports development by politicians in the district.

Tumukunde Hirally, captain of Karubanda Legends Sports Club, echoed this sentiment, stating that most teams struggle financially.

He praised Sheikh Kamugisha for supporting his team with footballs and jerseys, and called on other leaders to follow suit.

The poor state of Kabale Stadium has also been a subject of concern, with sports fans criticizing Kabale Municipal authorities for their inaction.

It’s clear that sports development in Kabale district faces significant challenges, but with the support of leaders like Sheikh Kamugisha, there’s hope for improvement.
