Emmanuel Maniraguha, the Kisoro Municipality hopeful Member of Parliament and the Director of Tourland Cottages, has made a generous donation to the Metropolitan International University (MIU) volleyball team.
Maniraguha, who served as the guest of honor at a friendly volleyball tournament hosted at MIU’s volleyball ground in Northern Division, Kisoro Municipality, emphasized his commitment to supporting sports talent.
The tournament was organized by Chief Fresher Alex Mbonye and saw Maniraguha donating four volleyballs, two pairs of sports jerseys, and UGX 1 million in cash. He also pledged to renovate the team’s playground, further demonstrating his dedication to fostering sports development at the university and in the surrounding communities.
In his remarks, Emmanuel Maniraguha encouraged the players to focus on talent development as a means of creating sustainable income.
Yosam Tumuhayitsye, the Dean of Students at Metropolitan International University, highlighted that sports are now an integral part of the university’s curriculum. He also praised the organizers of the match for their efforts and emphasized that friendly matches are key to building relationships among students.
Similarly, Alex Mbonye, the Chief Fresher and organizer of the match, explained that the volleyball tournament aimed to promote sports within the university and help freshmen feel more at home in the new environment at MIU.
The tournament concluded with the continuing students emerging as champions, securing three wins against the freshers, who earned two. The best players were awarded gold medals for their outstanding performance.
