Kyiv, Ukraine – April 14, 2025 — Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has publicly expressed deep gratitude to world leaders, diplomats, and citizens who have voiced their solidarity with Ukraine in the wake of a deadly Russian missile strike on Sumy that claimed dozens of lives on Palm Sunday.
In a series of messages shared yesterday and today, President Zelensky thanked international allies for standing with Ukraine in its most trying moments. “Today, many world leaders, diplomats, and ordinary people with big hearts expressed their condolences to Ukraine and the Ukrainian people. They condemned the Russian strike,” Zelensky wrote.
He emphasized the importance of continued support and pressure on the aggressor. “I thank everyone who remembers that wars end when the crimes of war are not forgotten — and when the aggressor is met with enough pressure. And that’s exactly what’s missing right now,” he added.
The Ukrainian leader highlighted that this past Friday marked one month since Russia rejected a U.S.-backed proposal for a full and unconditional ceasefire. “They are not afraid. That’s why they keep launching ballistic missiles. That’s why there are nearly a hundred attack drones every night — most of them Shaheds — targeting ordinary Ukrainian cities,” Zelensky warned.
Despite the ongoing assaults on frontline communities and relentless drone and missile attacks, Zelensky reiterated Ukraine’s unwavering commitment to defend its people. “We will continue doing everything we can to protect our people and save lives,” he affirmed.
Zelensky also pointed out that every Russian weapon fired at Ukraine not only harms civilians but also undermines diplomatic efforts aimed at ending the war. “Only pressure — only decisive action — can change this,” he stressed.
As global condemnation grows, Ukraine continues to call for stronger international unity, decisive measures, and a firm stance against Russian aggression.
