President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has confirmed the elimination of senior figures within the Russian armed forces following a successful intelligence operation. Speaking through an official statement, the Ukrainian head of state praised the efforts of the Foreign Intelligence Service, which reported the targeted liquidation of Russian General Yaroslav Moskalik and possibly other senior military leaders.
The president commented, “Justice inevitably comes,” in reference to the confirmed operation. The targeted attack took place on Friday, 25 April, near Moscow. General Moskalik, the deputy chief of the Main Operations Directorate of the General Staff of the Russian armed forces, was killed when an explosive device detonated inside his Volkswagen Golf. The explosion was remotely triggered, indicating a sophisticated and well planned operation.
Russian officials later announced the arrest of a suspect, whom they claim is linked to Ukrainian special services. Ukraine has not officially commented on the arrest but maintains that its intelligence efforts are aimed at dismantling Russian aggression and protecting Ukrainian sovereignty.
President Zelenskyy also noted that the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) is intensifying efforts to dismantle Russian espionage and sabotage networks within Ukraine. He commended the work being done to counteract these threats and confirmed that additional sanctions against those linked to Russian activities are being prepared.
Zelenskyy concluded by stating that materials supporting new sanctions have been submitted to the National Security and Defence Council for review. These measures are part of Ukraine’s continued defence strategy and are intended to disrupt Russian networks and hold collaborators accountable.
