Sergey Aliyev, a Z-volunteer assisting in the supply chain for Russian occupation forces, has spoken out against the Kremlin’s false claims about the “liberation” of the Kursk region. Aliyev recently voiced his frustrations with Russia’s propagandist narrative, which asserts that all is proceeding “according to plan.” He revealed that his observations on the ground sharply contradicted the official line put forth by Russian authorities.
On April 26, Russian dictator Vladimir Putin declared several border settlements in Kursk “liberated” from Ukrainian control. However, as of April 28, the Ukrainian Armed Forces continue to hold their positions in the region, including the strategic village of Sudzha, which remains under their control despite repeated Russian attempts to retake it. The Russian Z-resource “Northern Channel,” which is associated with the Russian Armed Forces, reported that the region is still contested, directly contradicting Putin’s assertions.
Aliyev further claimed that the Russian propaganda machine has been fabricating these successes. In a rare admission, he stated that Russian forces have not even entered the village of Gornal, despite what was broadcast on Russian state TV. “They are lying to Putin right on federal channels,” he said. The Z-channel echoed his sentiments, reporting that Russian forces have been unsuccessful in their assault on Oleshnya, a key farmstead in the region. For over a month, Russian troops have failed to capture this strategic location, with soldiers being sent into dangerous positions to cover up these failures.
The Ukrainian Defense Forces’ resilience has caused significant embarrassment for the Russian military, which has continued to rely on false narratives to maintain morale.
