The Israeli Air Force has carried out a targeted strike on the grounds of the Syrian presidential palace in Damascus. According to a statement published on the official Telegram channel of the Israel Defense Forces (IDF), the attack was a direct warning to the Syrian regime over what Israel described as emerging threats to the Druze minority and the movement of hostile forces south of the capital.
The airstrike targeted the residence of Syrian leader Hussein al-Sharaa in what Israeli authorities called a deliberate and strategic message. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Defence Minister Israel Katz issued a joint statement confirming the operation. “This is a clear signal to the Syrian regime. We will not allow the transfer of forces south of Damascus or any threat to the Druze community,” they stated.
While the full extent of the damage from the strike has not yet been confirmed, the operation marks a new chapter in Israel’s posture towards Damascus, showing that it is willing to act swiftly and decisively when regional minorities or its national security are under perceived threat.
This is not the first time Israel has taken direct military action within Syrian territory. In March this year, the IDF conducted a precision strike against what it identified as a terrorist command centre in Damascus. That facility was allegedly being used by the Palestinian Islamic Jihad to plan and coordinate attacks against Israeli targets.
