The Ukrainian Armed Forces’ 414th Separate Brigade of Unmanned Systems, known as the “Magyar Birds,” reported exceptional results in April 2025, showcasing their continuous dominance in the battle against Russian aggression. According to their public report, each 7.5 minutes of the month saw the destruction or damage of one unique enemy target, bringing the total to 5840. More notably, the brigade has dealt a significant blow to the enemy’s personnel, having eliminated 1804 Russian soldiers, or what the Ukrainian forces referred to as “worms.” This equates to 60 Russian troops being taken out each day, essentially wiping out an entire assault company.
The brigade’s highly effective unmanned aerial systems (drones) were instrumental in these victories, with the total number of combat sorties reaching 25,000 over the month. In addition, the Magyar Birds’ drones destroyed 1265 units of Russian military hardware, including armoured and unarmoured vehicles, and 364 pieces of communication and network equipment. Another 2280 enemy shelters and bunkers were also wiped out. These victories were all verified by auditors using the Delta military awareness system, which operates under the Ministry of Digital Affairs’ “Army of Drones. Bonus” program.
April’s results come as the 414th Separate Brigade looks towards future battles, with plans to ramp up drone sorties to 100 per day, further intensifying pressure on Russian forces. Despite the incredible success, Ukrainian commanders acknowledge the increasing significance of drone warfare, recognising that soon, both sides will face a “kill zone” extending over a 15-20 km stretch. In this environment, the air will become even more crucial, and Ukraine’s drone forces will continue to take the lead.
The heroic efforts of the Magyar Birds are now being recognised internationally, with reports from major publications like Forbes and The Times bringing attention to their contribution.
