The Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine has destroyed a key Russian drone command centre in the village of Tetkino, located in the Kursk region of the Russian Federation. According to the General Staff of Ukraine, the operation took place on 4 May and targeted the control point for reconnaissance and combat UAV units.
The Ukrainian strike was precise and devastating. It eliminated up to 20 Russian occupiers and obliterated a significant amount of military equipment stationed at the site. This action marks yet another step in Ukraine’s ongoing effort to systematically dismantle the invading country’s ability to conduct aerial operations and wage its illegal war.
The General Staff stated that crews operating both surveillance and strike drones were stationed at the now-destroyed facility. The destruction of this centre not only dealt a blow to enemy intelligence and strike capabilities but also signalled Ukraine’s growing reach and sophistication in drone warfare.
Ukrainian military officials praised the bravery and precision of the pilots involved in the mission. They reaffirmed the ongoing commitment of the Defence Forces to reduce the aggressor state’s military infrastructure and strike power wherever necessary.
Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Oleksandr Syrskyi, speaking on 5 May, confirmed that the wider operation in the Kursk region has been active for nine months. Syrskyi reported that the mission has already achieved most of its goals, including the establishment of a defensive buffer zone along the border. The commander also awarded soldiers of the 225th Regiment for their significant role in the campaign.
Syrskyi previously noted that Ukrainian drones have destroyed over 160,000 enemy targets in the past two months alone, highlighting the effectiveness of Ukraine’s drone warfare capabilities and its critical role in defending Ukrainian sovereignty.
