The Ukrainian National Guard’s 13th Brigade “Khartia” has successfully evacuated a wounded soldier using a ground robotic system over a 12 kilometre stretch north of Kharkiv in a major breakthrough in battlefield medical support. The evacuation mission, which took place within the brigade’s area of responsibility, was completed without human physical transport, showcasing a dramatic step forward in unmanned battlefield logistics.
The soldier, in need of urgent medical assistance, was carefully loaded onto a robotic ground transport platform. Once secured, the robot autonomously navigated its way to the designated evacuation point, where medics were waiting to receive the casualty and transfer him to doctors for further treatment. The joint operation involved the National Robotics Centre unit and an operational support battalion, reflecting high-level coordination and growing integration of automated systems on the Ukrainian frontline.
Khartia has been at the forefront of robotic warfare and rescue innovation. At the end of 2024, the brigade carried out the first ever fully robotic operation using only unmanned ground vehicles and drones without any direct human involvement on the ground. The brigade documented the initial 24 hours of this historic mission in the short documentary Movement Has Begun, which is now available on the brigade’s official YouTube channel and on platforms such as MEGOGO, SweetTV and Kyivstar TV.
This achievement comes as Ukrainian forces continue to counter Russia’s invasion with increasingly effective, precise, and sophisticated military technology.
