Russia continues its violent campaign against Ukraine while falsely claiming it seeks peace. According to the Centre for Countering Disinformation of the National Security and Defence Council of Ukraine, the Kremlin is preparing new rounds of combined missile and drone attacks, even as it pushes propaganda toward Western nations suggesting it wants to end the war.
Andriy Kovalenko, head of the Centre for Countering Disinformation, wrote on Telegram that the Russian information space shows no intention to stop the war. Instead, internal Russian communication channels signal preparations for more attacks. Messages about so-called peace are only aimed at Western countries to manipulate public opinion abroad and slow down foreign support for Ukraine.
The statement comes after a wave of Russian air strikes across the country in late May. Cities including Kyiv, Mykolaiv, Chernihiv, and Kupyansk, as well as areas in the regions of Sumy, Kharkiv, Kherson, Dnipropetrovsk, Zaporizhzhia, and Kyiv oblasts, came under heavy bombardment. Civilian casualties have been reported, with both deaths and injuries in multiple regions.
Despite the Russian dictator’s claims of peace, his military forces launched over 100 attacks on Ukrainian positions in a single day, testing Ukraine’s defences along multiple fronts. Meanwhile, Ukrainian defenders have made gains. According to the General Staff, 971 Russian servicemen were captured during recent fighting in the Kursk region, underscoring the resilience and capability of Ukrainian forces under constant assault.
Ukrainian officials have reiterated that continued Western hesitation and lack of decisive action has encouraged further aggression by Moscow. The Kremlin’s impunity, enabled by slow international response, is fuelling its belief that it can continue its war of destruction unchecked.
