The Come Back Alive Foundation has delivered 150 FN Minimi light machine guns to Ukrainian defenders, bolstering the strength of 18 military units within the Ukrainian Defense Forces. This delivery was made possible through donations from caring individuals and partners to the foundation’s general accounts.
In a statement, the foundation expressed their gratitude for the support, saying, “Your donations impress not only our hearts. While you’re reading this line, you could make fifty shots with the FN Minimi Mk.3. Now imagine what 150 brand-new machine guns, which we’ve used to reinforce 18 military units of the Ukrainian Defense Forces, are capable of.”
The breakdown of the delivery is as follows:
- 102 machine guns for the Ukrainian Ground Forces
- 36 machine guns for the Ukrainian Navy
- 10 machine guns for the Ukrainian Territorial Defense Forces
- 2 machine guns for a Special Unit within the Ukrainian Defense Forces
The total cost of the delivered machine guns is UAH 103,120,200. Of these, 140 were purchased with donations made to the foundation’s general accounts. Additionally, 10 FN Minimi machine guns, valued at UAH 6,874,680, were donated by the Gas Transmission System Operator of Ukraine, LLC, and reinforced the 118th Mechanized Brigade.
This marks the latest delivery of FN Minimi machine guns, following the first shipment of 150 units in 7.62×51 mm NATO caliber last year. The previous delivery doubled the arsenal of FN Minimi machine guns of Belgian production that Ukrainian defenders had already received through the foundation’s donations.
The FN Minimi Mk.3 is a versatile infantry weapon designed to enhance firepower, providing effective range up to 600-800 meters while maintaining high mobility. It is a gas-operated automatic weapon, with a locked barrel that feeds ammunition from a metal strip. Weighing approximately 8.2 kilograms, the Mk.3 is designed to offer both precision and ease of use in combat situations.
