Ukrainian forces appear to have launched a fresh offensive in Russia’s Kursk region, targeting villages near the border and pushing through partially repaired infrastructure that had previously been destroyed by Ukrainian airstrikes.
According to statements and imagery posted by Russian military Telegram channels, Ukrainian troops began moving towards the Glushkovsky district after damaging a bridge over the Seym River in the village of Zvannoye. This bridge was one of three key crossings linking the Glushkovsky district with the rest of the Kursk region. Although Russian forces had attempted to repair it using pipes and soil after earlier strikes, the new attack once again severed key access routes.
Russian sources also reported that Ukrainian forces, advancing from the village of Ryzhivka, deployed infantry on quad bikes and brought in IMR 2 and UR 77 mine clearing vehicles. These vehicles were seen approaching Tyotkino, a settlement close to the border. Additional Ukrainian military activity was reported near Bezsalivka and Novyi Put, with mine clearing efforts spotted just 17 kilometres east of Tyotkino.
Combat activity has also been observed 60 kilometres to the west, in the Sudzhansky district, a location already marked by recent heavy fighting. The advance appears to have been preceded by heavy Ukrainian artillery fire toward Tyotkino, according to Russian channels.
The offensive is further complicated by wet weather, which has made drone use difficult. Nonetheless, Ukrainian positions along the right bank of the Seym River in the Tyotkino area remain firm, having been under Ukrainian control since August last year. The position’s natural isolation has allowed it to remain in Ukrainian hands despite repeated Russian attempts to retake it.
