Troops from the 47th Mechanised Brigade “Magura” have launched a powerful and precise strike against Russian reconnaissance forces in the Sumy region of northeastern Ukraine, deploying FPV drones and Paladin self propelled artillery with lethal effect. According to Ukraine’s Ground Forces Command, the operation successfully targeted and destroyed key enemy positions and equipment.
The coordinated assault began with FPV drones that located and disabled the enemy’s satellite and UAV antenna systems. These antennas were critical for Russian surveillance and battlefield coordination. Once these assets were taken out, the Ukrainian self propelled artillery unit, equipped with American made M109 Paladin howitzers, unleashed a barrage of six 155 mm shells. The targeted Russian dugouts were reduced to rubble, killing the occupying soldiers attempting to flee or shelter inside.
Brigade reports noted that the enemy believed their camouflage and drone surveillance capabilities would shield them from Ukrainian detection. Instead, the 47th Brigade swiftly identified their presence and eliminated them with devastating force. In the words of one soldier, “They thought they were masters of disguise. We turned them to ash.”
Drone operators from the Ivan Franko Group also reported striking a number of additional Russian assets. These included a “Ural” transport truck loaded with ammunition, howitzers, infantry targets, communication units, and even a tank. The soldiers shared video footage showing a warehouse full of ammunition and equipment being destroyed in flames.
Separately, Ukrainian Special Operations Forces successfully struck and destroyed a Russian Buk M3 surface to air missile system. The system was estimated to be worth 45 million US dollars, equivalent to approximately 36.2 million GBP. The strike was carried out using precision drones. Ukraine’s forces also destroyed a Russian Uragan 1 multiple launch rocket system in the same timeframe.
