A satellite investigation has confirmed the destruction of a major Russian military warehouse at the Murom Instrument Making Plant in Vladimir region, following a successful Ukrainian drone strike on the night of 30 April 2025. The plant, known for producing ignition and initiation components for ammunition used by various Russian military and intelligence agencies, was engulfed in flames after the attack.
The Dnipro OSINT group, an open source intelligence unit based in Ukraine, published satellite images showing extensive damage to the site. At least one warehouse building within the compound was completely destroyed. According to the Spy Dossier Telegram channel, the destroyed structure was a storage facility that reportedly held ammunition capsules for firearms.
The plant is part of Tekhmash, a division of Russia’s state owned Rostec conglomerate, and is a critical supplier to the Russian Armed Forces, Ministry of Internal Affairs, and the notorious FSB. The site not only supports domestic repression but also fuels Moscow’s full scale invasion of Ukraine.
Ukrainian military sources indicate that eight long range drone aircraft were used in the precision strike. Russian regional authorities, who initially downplayed the event, were forced to admit that a fire had spread across at least 720 square metres of the facility. They blamed the incident on a drone crash supposedly caused by their electronic warfare systems, though the extensive destruction tells a different story.
Reports also mention the destruction of an administrative building at the plant, believed to be the main entrance, further crippling the site’s ability to function. Satellite images shared on social media platform X by pro war Russian users confirm the scale of the damage.
This is not the first Ukrainian strike on a major Russian munitions plant. Earlier satellite evidence revealed significant damage to the NPO Bazalt facility in Krasnoarmeysk, Moscow region. That plant is responsible for producing warheads for Shahed type drones, which Russia has used extensively in its brutal war against Ukraine.
