In newly released footage from Ukraine’s Main Intelligence Directorate (GUR), elite snipers from the Kraken unit have been filmed carrying out precise and devastating operations against Russian occupying forces.
The exclusive video, published by Ukraine’s Defence Intelligence on social media, showcases the skilled marksmanship and coordinated movements of this specialised military group, known for executing high-risk missions along critical front lines.
Operating under the umbrella of the Ministry of Defence, the Kraken unit is part of the GUR’s active operations division. The footage shows swift, calculated strikes, carried out with near-surgical precision, resulting in the elimination of multiple enemy combatants. Ukrainian military sources say the snipers were engaged in targeted missions intended to neutralise specific threats and disrupt Russian military positioning.
The release is also part of a broader recruitment drive, with Ukraine’s defence intelligence calling on capable individuals to apply to join the unit through a dedicated online form.
The Kraken unit has been instrumental in destabilising Russian troop morale. According to defence analysts, the psychological impact of Ukrainian snipers—combined with the continuous pressure from drones and guerrilla tactics—has put Russian forces on the defensive across several occupied regions. These silent killers operate in terrain often close to enemy positions, where every movement is a calculated risk and every shot counts.
