Ukrainian Special Operations Forces have successfully destroyed two critical Russian military systems—the Buk-M3 surface-to-air missile system and the Uragan-1 multiple launch rocket system—during a coordinated drone assault. The Buk-M3, valued at approximately $45 million (around £35.5 million), was a significant component of Russia’s air defense capabilities.
The operation commenced with Ukrainian forces identifying the Buk-M3 and Uragan-1 systems during a reconnaissance mission. Utilizing loitering munitions, the drones targeted and destroyed both systems, including the Buk-M3’s ammunition load.
The Buk-M3 system, introduced in 2016, is designed to engage a variety of aerial, naval, and ground-based targets, even under electronic warfare conditions. Its destruction represents a significant setback for Russian military operations.
