Russian President Vladimir Putin has sent a congratulatory message to Ugandan President Yoweri Museveni as Uganda celebrates its Independence Day.
The celebration is happening at the Kololo Ceremonial grounds.
Putin expressed his warm wishes to Museveni and the people of Uganda.
In a letter to Museveni, Putin mentioned that the friendship between Russia and Uganda has always been strong, as seen in their recent collaboration during the Russia-Africa Summit in Saint Petersburg.
Putin also called for more talks between Russia and Uganda to make the country and Africa safer and more stable.
“I believe that we will continue to work together in various areas to benefit our people and to strengthen security and stability in Africa. I wish all Ugandan citizens peace and prosperity,” he said.
Museveni and Putin have been close allies in East Africa for a long time, and this relationship has been beneficial to both countries.
They have worked together to improve their economies and have ongoing discussions about collaboration in business, agriculture, space science, and industry between Russia and Uganda.
