Former US President Barack Obama has praised another soon-to-be former President, Joe Biden, hailing him as one of the finest leaders the United States has ever seen. This recognition comes as Biden is about to conclude his presidential term in a few days.

In a post on his official X account, Obama remarked that four years ago, amid a pandemic, the country needed someone capable of setting politics aside and guiding them out of the turmoil, which is precisely what Biden has done, according to Obama.

Furthermore, the first Black US President noted that the departing President inherited a struggling economy and successfully led the most impressive economic recovery the world has ever witnessed. Among Joe Biden’s accomplishments highlighted by Obama are the creation of 17 million new jobs, significant wage increases, and reduced healthcare costs.

Additionally, he addressed the challenges posed by climate change as well as the legislation aimed at rebuilding the nation’s infrastructure. The 44th US President also expressed his enduring gratitude for his friendship with Biden.

“Four years ago, in the middle of a pandemic, we needed a leader with the character to put politics aside and do what was right.

That’s what @JoeBiden did. At a time when our economy was reeling, he drove what would become the world’s strongest recovery – with 17 million new jobs, historic wage gains, and lower healthcare costs.

He passed landmark legislation to rebuild our nation’s infrastructure and address the threat of climate change. I’m grateful to Joe for his leadership, his friendship, and his lifetime of service to this country we love.”

It is important to mention that Joe Biden’s term will officially conclude on January 20, 2025, when the President-elect, Donald Trump, is set to be sworn in and begin his time in office.

Trump, who triumphed over the Democratic candidate Kamala Harris, who served as vice president during Biden’s administration, will be taking office for a second term. His first term lasted from 2017 to 2021 before he controversially lost to Joe Biden.

Meanwhile, this will mark the 60th Presidential Inauguration and will also coincide with Martin Luther King Jr. Day, a federal holiday in the United States.

The ceremony is scheduled to occur on the West Lawn of the United States Capitol and will signify the beginning of the Trump-Vance administration.
