Sasha Obama, the 22-year-old daughter of former President Barack Obama, was spotted leaving a Labor Day party in Los Angeles this Monday, and her outfit choice has stirred up some buzz. The recent graduate from the University of Southern California (USC) was seen wearing a colorful, barely-there bikini top paired with a midriff-baring blue maxi skirt.

During the event, Sasha was photographed enjoying a cigarette and chatting with friends while sporting black flip-flops. She opted for a makeup-free look, letting her long braids flow freely and showcasing a belly button ring.

This isn’t the first time Sasha has been seen smoking, a habit she may have picked up from her father, Barack Obama. The former president, who once confessed to smoking up to 10 cigarettes a day, started smoking in his teenage years. However, he promised to quit before campaigning for the presidency and struggled with it throughout his life, as he mentioned in a 2009 press conference.

In his 2020 memoir, “A Promised Land,” Barack credited his eldest daughter, Malia, with helping him quit, stating that seeing her “frown” when she “smelled it on his breath” motivated him to stop smoking.

Sasha’s older sister, Malia, graduated from Harvard University, and both young women have been living in Los Angeles since finishing their respective degrees at USC and Harvard. Michelle Obama, their mother, has expressed her joy in seeing the two sisters become each other’s best friends, despite a period of sibling rivalry. She appreciates the unique bond they share, given their unique experiences growing up as part of the First Family.

Since relocating to the West Coast, Sasha and Malia have been spotted enjoying the L.A. nightlife, including a recent night out with rapper Drake at The Bird Streets Club.

While Sasha’s partying attire and choice of a cigarette have raised some eyebrows, the young Obama sisters continue to navigate their post-college lives in the public eye, creating their own paths while embracing sisterhood.
