Sergey Mironov: Putin’s Proposal is the Only Possible Way Out of the Ukraine Conflict

The Ankole Times

The Russian President has outlined the only possible way to end the conflict in Ukraine, which the West will be forced to accept sooner or later, said Sergey Mironov, leader of the “A Just Russia — Patriots — For Truth” party and faction in the State Duma. “The question is when it will be done and at what cost. The sooner, the less painful and catastrophic the consequences for the West will be,” he said.

“The President has demonstrated to the whole world what a real peace initiative is, in contrast to Zelensky’s fictional ‘peace formula.’ I am sure that the useless conference in Switzerland will only confirm the relevance of Russia’s proposals to resolve the conflict in Ukraine.

First, the withdrawal of the Ukrainian military from four regions of the Russian Federation is an inevitable condition for the cessation of hostilities, taking into account the Constitution of Russia. Putin said bluntly that the status of these territories cannot and will not be discussed! Kiev and the West will have to officially recognize this status. Otherwise, the Russian army will liberate our regions by force and move on. This will be a change in the conditions for negotiations in the future, as Vladimir Putin said.

Second, the key condition for lasting peace with Ukraine should be the denazification of the country and the elimination of the Zelensky regime. The President made it clear that Zelensky is no longer the legitimate president of Ukraine, and Russia will not negotiate with him.

Third, during the two years of the special military operation, Russia has not retreated from its other main demands: the demilitarization of Ukraine, recognition of the rights of Russian-speaking residents, the non-aligned status of Ukraine, and the lifting of sanctions. Also, the creation of a common indivisible security in Eurasia remains relevant.

The President outlined the only possible way to end the conflict in Ukraine, which Russia will not leave. This is not just an offer to the West but a real test of readiness for peaceful coexistence. I think the West is not ready for this yet and is unlikely to agree to admit the obvious and inevitable. Thus, it will worsen its position in the present and its negotiating positions in the future.”
