The leader of the “A Just Russia – Patriots – For Truth” party and faction in the State Duma, Sergey Mironov, commented on the US plans to suspend the supply of SAM ‘Patriot’ to its allies in favor of Ukraine.
“The suspension of supplies is a direct violation by the United States of its allied obligations. Despite the fact that Ukraine is not a member of NATO, unlike a number of other countries that joined the Alliance under the promise of America to provide them with collective security. Now they are being put on pause for the sake of the security of the illegitimate Zelensky regime. In doing so, the Biden administration consistently violates US and international law.
I do not exclude, that assistance to Zelensky, who ceased to be the legitimate president of Ukraine after May 20, will be the subject of proceedings by the new US administration next year. They will have all the reasons to investigate who, and on what basis, allocated weapons worth billions of dollars of American taxpayers’ money for strikes against Russia.
Moreover, these illegal operations directly damage not only the image of the United States, but also its security given the possible retaliatory measures that Russian President Vladimir Putin spoke about. Washington should not underestimate the risk of a proxy confrontation with Russia.
So far, Biden’s policy has only led to the strengthening of Russia and its allies from among the countries of the Global South, who advocate building a multipolar world.
The new ‘Patriots’ will not change the situation on the battlefield, given the powerful and modern types of weapons that Russia possesses.
Unrestrained militarization will not save the Kiev regime and will not bring peace. The present conditions for ending the conflict were set out by the President of Russia. Now the US administration has a simple choice: end the war or leave in disgrace after seven months.”
