Museveni Calls for Intra-NAM Trade at 19th Summit

President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni has highlighted the imperative need for Non-Aligned Movement (NAM) member countries to bolster trade within the group. Addressing the 19th NAM Summit in Kampala, which concluded on January 20, Museveni stressed that fostering trade among member nations is a pivotal factor in creating affluence.

The summit, themed “Deepening co-operation for shared global affluence,” saw leaders from 121 countries convene to discuss collaborative efforts. Museveni emphasized the interconnectedness of prosperity, stating, “When I buy from you, I am supporting your prosperity, and when you buy from me, you are supporting my prosperity.”




Taking over as the NAM chair for the next three years, Museveni believes that the forum, representing 80% of the world’s population, holds the capacity to solve numerous problems through cooperation.

He expressed optimism about achieving affluence for the entire world, marking a departure from historical concentrations of wealth in specific regions.
