The Ankole Times

Patrick Okidi | Dokolo, UG: Pending deployment, the President of the Republic of Uganda, Gen. Yoweri Museveni Kaguta, has appointed Molly Abang Kia, the chairperson of NRM Dokolo, to a full RDC position. This appointment took place on March 19, 2024, at the Amatiburu Primary School playground, Kangai Sub-county, Dokolo South, Dokolo District, during NRM flagbearer campaigns.

“I will call you when I get to Kampala,” said H.E Gen. Yoweri Museveni while appointing Molly before the people of Dokolo.

Thousands of people witnessed and appreciated President Yoweri Museveni’s historic speech in both Dokolo North and Dokolo South constituencies respectively, as he held two separate rallies while campaigning for the NRM flagbearer, Adongo Janet Elau.

President Museveni assured MP Okot Ogong Felix and the people of Dokolo from the Amatiburu Primary School playground that Molly Abang Kia is now an RDC, but requested her to be ready for his phone call when he arrives in Kampala for further details of the appointment. This was in response to MP Okot Felix Ogong, commonly known as ‘Afeli,’ requesting H.E to deploy the long-serving NRM cadre as soon as possible to serve as an RDC in the NRM government.

On another note, Mr. Odur Nelson, the LC1 chairperson of Amatiburu Primary School, was assured by H.E the President about his request for a brand new motorcycle. While welcoming H.E the President, the LC1 Chairman urged the President to provide him (Odur) with a motorcycle to enhance his mobilization activities in the village.

MP Okot, while addressing the electorate before the President, stated that Dokolo District is predominantly comprised of Movement supporters, emphasizing the need for a district hospital in the area. He recalled his request to the President in 2011 for a donation of iron sheets to the church, which resulted in the donation of 5000 iron sheets. Once again, church leaders are requesting the same quantity of 5000 iron sheets for churches currently under construction at the roofing level.

Molly Kia Abang was earlier recommended by Hon. Rosemary Nansubuga Sseninde, the NRM Director of Mobilization at the NRM Secretariat, to be appointed as a Resident District Commissioner (RDC).

NRM Secretary-General Rt. Hon. Todwong Richard promised to mobilize votes for the NRM flagbearer by going door-to-door.

Several NRM dignitaries, including Hon. Minister Akori Beatrice, the State Minister of Economic Monitoring; Minister Aceng Jane; Tanga Odoi; Awich Polar; Lydia Wanyoto; Ambassador Paul Amoru; and MPs, among others, showed overwhelming support for the NRM flagbearer, Adongo.
