Wednesday, March 20, 2024

The Vice President of the Republic of Uganda, retired Major Jesca Alupo, last week received His Royal Highness Jude Mike Mudoma, the Masaabaland cultural leader, who had paid a courtesy visit to the Vice President.

The Umukuka and his team presented a set of requests from Masaabaland to the Vice President for onward transmission to the Head of State. An upcoming meeting with the President of Uganda has been scheduled. The issues that the cultural leader wants the Government of Uganda to address in his region include the construction of a museum, a government university in the heart of Masaabaland, and equal sharing of national resources, as Masaabaland has been neglected in the allocation of national resources, lacking a substantive minister in the current Government. The Vice President promised to push some of these demands to the Head of State for attention.

Other areas that the cultural leader wants addressed by the Government include the construction of the palace at the Mutoto cultural site, the titling of Mutoto land, and the resolution of high unemployment levels among educated youth in Masaabaland.
