Tensions have risen sharply at the Tororo County NRM district political branch office, resulting in its closure due to an ongoing power struggle between the administrator and party leaders.
The conflict has escalated to the point where padlocks from both parties, as well as police, are now attached to the office door.
The root of the conflict can be traced back to allegations of disrespect and personal interests within the office.
Tororo County leaders, led by legislator Fredrick Angura, have accused administrator Stephen Isogol of undermining their authority. On the other hand, Isogol argues that the leaders exploit the office for their own gain.
Fredrick Angura, the Tororo County South MP, confirmed the dispute, expressing concern over the administrator’s constant disrespect towards office leadership.
In response, Isogol denied the accusations, alleging that the county leaders exploit the office for their personal interests.
The conflict took a significant turn when Angura announced the dismissal of Isogol, assigning caretaking responsibilities to the Registrar until further notice.
Tensions heightened further following complaints from village registrars about unpaid dues after the closure of the NRM registration exercise.
