Archbishop David Livingston Makumbi, brother to Pastor Robert Kayanja of Miracle Centre Cathedral and Archbishop John Ssentamu, has passed away. Makumbi departed on May 2, 2024, in the United States, where he had been residing.
In an announcement made by his son, Ronald Emmy Nyanzi, the Makumbi family expressed their sorrow over the loss of their patriarch. Nyanzi conveyed gratitude for the cherished moments shared with Archbishop Makumbi during his time on earth, describing his life as one dedicated to serving God. The family takes solace in the belief that Makumbi is now in the presence of God, as they seek to honor his legacy by embodying his teachings and values.
As of the announcement, details regarding Makumbi’s funeral arrangements had not been finalized. However, the family extended an invitation to well-wishers to gather at their residence in Lowell, Massachusetts, to mourn and pay their respects.
Various individuals, including State Minister for Youth and Children Affairs, Balaam Barugahare, offered condolences to the Makumbi family. Barugahare extended sympathies to Pastor Kayanja, acknowledging the loss of his elder brother and offering prayers for comfort during this difficult period.
In response, Pastor Kayanja expressed gratitude for the outpouring of support and requested prayers for Makumbi’s immediate family. He announced the opening of a condolence book signing at the Miracle Center Cathedral lounge, providing an opportunity for relatives and friends to offer their condolences.
Makumbi’s journey in ministry began at Prayer Mountain, where he drew inspiration from his late grandfather, Jeremia Gyegenda. Subsequently, he pursued his calling abroad, ministering in the United States.
