Our reporter spoke one-on-one with Minister Dr. Jane Ruth Aceng’s political loyalists about her success story and potential contributions that could pave her way to victory in the upcoming 2026 general election.
Hon. Jenna Opolot, a renowned political mobilizer for Hon. Aceng Ocero, narrated that the standard of health service delivery has significantly improved in Lira City, notably at Lira Regional Referral Hospital and Ober Health Centre in Lira City Division. She highlighted the installation of a CT scan, which has made healthcare more accessible for patients from distant areas like Lira and Otuke districts.
Highlighting Minister Aceng’s contributions during her tenure as Lira City Woman Member of Parliament, Hon. Opolot emphasized her efforts in facilitating pilgrims attending Uganda Martyrs’ Day in June 2024.
“In just three years in office, Minister of Health Hon. Dr. Jane Ruth Aceng Ocero has already generated excitement among many voters in Lira City due to her bottom-up approach,” said Herba, a 52-year-old resident of Ohuru Bar, describing Aceng as a courageous leader who secured ambulances for Lira City and all nine districts in Lango sub-region.
Dr. Jane Ruth Aceng has achieved significant milestones in health, water, and sanitation development within Lira City, including commissioning eleven boreholes in partnership with MMP Raja Foundation through Nile Agro Industries Limited. She has also spearheaded the repair of existing boreholes to improve access to clean water.
“In 2021, she successfully advocated for boreholes in areas with severe water shortages, resulting in improved water access for many residents,” our reporter learned.
Dr. Aceng has also supported various women’s groups in Lira City through substantial donations, underscoring her commitment to community welfare.
Recently appointed as the PLU team coordinator for Lango sub-region by Gen. Muhoozi Kainerugaba, Dr. Aceng’s political influence is expected to grow, with many youth placing trust in Gen. Muhoozi’s support.
“Ace Jane is a divine blessing, and we are fully backing her return to Uganda’s 12th Parliament,” said Akello Betty Brenda of Ngetta Ginnery, expressing strong community support.
