The youth in Lira City have been urged to embrace government programs. On Friday, June 21, 2024, Mr. Olang Sam, Assistant Resident City Commissioner (ARCC) of Lira City West Division, enlightened the youth on various government interventions and programs aimed at addressing poverty and promoting development.

The event took place at Lira City West Hall. Mr. Olang Sam addressed the challenges faced by the youth in accessing government programs.

The meeting was organized by GLOFORD, an NGO based in Lira City, in collaboration with Plan Uganda.

In his closing remarks, Olang noted that the government of Uganda, through the National Resistance Movement (NRM) party, has outlined several key programs aimed at empowering the youth. These include the Youth Livelihood Program (YLP), Parish Development Model (PDM), and Emyooga, among others, detailed in the NRM Manifesto. These programs are designed to tackle various challenges faced by the youth in the country.

Assistant RCC Lira City West emphasized that programs like the Youth Livelihood Program, Parish Development Model, and Operational Wealth Creation are crucial for socio-economic transformation.

He urged the youth to fully embrace these programs aimed at empowering them, emphasizing diligence. However, Sam highlighted that some individuals attempt to exploit the process by unlawfully demanding money. He urged the youth to report anyone soliciting money for government services, promising legal action against such perpetrators.
