Ahead of the 2026 general elections that will decide who represents Ugandans in the 12th Parliament, a power struggle has emerged in many constituencies across the country. Voters accuse the current members of the 11th Parliament of corruption and failure to deliver on campaign promises made in 2021.
Bukanga North Constituency has not been exempt from this scrutiny, as voters are eager to choose a new representative for the 12th Parliament, criticizing the incumbent for ineffectiveness in addressing the needs of Bukanga North.
Last Saturday, eyewitnesses observed Hon Tumuhimbise Julius, dubbed “Muzahura wa Bukanga North,” organizing a friendly match between Ngarama and Kagamba sub-counties. Kagamba emerged victorious, earning a cow as a reward, while Ngarama received 500,000 UGX.
In a short span of time, Hon Julius Tumuhimbise has gained popularity across all generations in the constituency. His rise to prominence is credited to his strategic mobilization of Bukanga residents towards socioeconomic transformation. Additionally, he has actively promoted sports in the constituency, attracting many young supporters.
Furthermore, Hon Julius Tumuhimbise has been a staunch supporter of the “Patriotic League of Uganda, PLU,” aligning himself with the generational agenda and earning significant support from constituents who hope he will collaborate with Gen. Muhoozi Kainerugaba’s generational government to sustain peace, stability, and socioeconomic development.
My discussions with stakeholders in the constituency revealed that Julius initially engaged them before announcing his intention to serve Bukanga North publicly. This suggests Hon Julius may face minimal resistance on the ground.
In our interaction, Hon Julius expressed his readiness to leave no stone unturned in Bukanga North. “My return home is not merely about politics but about bringing about socioeconomic transformation for our people, which is what Mzee Museveni desires,” noted Hon Julius.
With more developments expected, Bukanga North constituency is energized by Hon Julius Tumuhimbise and eagerly anticipates the final decision that will reshape Bukanga’s future.
