Ugandan Opposition Leader Expresses Concern Over Abductions in Kenya

Bobi Wine, the leader of Uganda’s largest opposition party, the National Unity Platform (NUP), has expressed deep concern over reports of ongoing abductions of young activists in Kenya.

Wine, who is also a prominent musician, businessman, actor, and human rights activist, stated that Ugandans understand the pain of illegal arrests, abductions, and enforced disappearances, as these are common occurrences in Uganda.

In his statement, Bobi Wine condemned these abductions and called on Kenyan authorities to urgently release all those who have been illegally detained. He emphasized the importance of upholding the rights of all citizens, including those who oppose the Finance Bill 2024.

Wine’s comments highlight the ongoing struggles faced by activists in both Uganda and Kenya, where government crackdowns on dissent are a significant concern.
