Prince Anthony Olobo Odur is the biological son of the Paramount Chief of Lango Cultural Foundation (Won Nyaci), His Highness Yosam Odur Ebii. Recently, he was sworn in as the clan head of “Atek Omwonpel” after winning the Awitong election by a significant margin.

Many are curious about Prince Olobo Odur’s popularity among his clan members and the Lango tribe in general. Awitong Olobo Odur defeated three other contestants in a competitive election, garnering 1,296 votes. Lawrence Obel came second with 642 votes, Charles Oyuku secured 492 votes, and Mr. Otim Robert received 100 votes, placing last.

Counsel Bosco Twontoo Obaa officiated the swearing-in ceremony as the commissioner of oath held in Acaba sub-county, Oyam District. Apac Resident District Commissioner (RDC) Abdul George was sworn in as the chief advisor, and Geoffrey Okaka as the speaker, along with cultural ministers and other lower-ranking leaders.

Speaking to our reporter by phone today, Olobo expressed his commitment to promoting unity, peace, and harmony during his leadership. He also pledged to prioritize socio-economic transformation among his subjects.

Despite public speculation, Olobo has not publicly addressed whether he intends to replace or succeed his father, Won Nyaci Yosam Odur Ebii.

The electoral commission of five members is scheduled to be sworn in again on Tuesday at Teboke in the palace of Paramount Chief Yosam Odur Ebii, who is now 94 years old.
