The Inzu Yasaba cultural institution, in partnership with the Ministry of Tourism, Wildlife and Antiquities, briefed the media fraternity today, July 16th, about a series of planned activities leading up to the Imbalu launch scheduled for August 3rd.
The activities include pre-Imbalu launch competitions and the Umukuka dinner, among others. The official date of the Imbalu ceremony was also confirmed as August 3rd.
Rt. Hon. Charles Wamala Were, the Inzu Yasaba Prime Minister, opened the media briefing on behalf of the cultural institution.
In attendance were Inzu Yasaba ministers, including the Minister for Culture, Hon. Moses Kutoyi, and Imbalu chairman Mr. Wilson Watira.
Other guests included the security team, prisons officials, Ministry of Tourism officials, and the Nabachelema Foundation (an association similar to the Buganda’s Nabagelega Foundation). The Nabachelema Foundation has pledged to train over 500 traditional Imbalu surgeons.
Addressing the media, Mr. Steven Masiga, spokesperson for the Bamasaaba cultural leadership, confirmed the Imbalu programs to media representatives from The Ankole Times, The Standard Uganda, Daily Express, Uganda Broadcasting Corporation Television (UBC TV), Elgon FM, Baba TV, and Baba Radio, among other media platforms.
