The donation of cows is seen as a gesture of goodwill and respect to strengthen the relationship between the PLU and the Buganda Kingdom.

General Muhoozi Kainerugaba has made a donation of 10 cows to Ssabasajja Kabaka Mwenda Mutebi II in honor of the Kabaka’s 31st coronation anniversary. The symbolic gift was presented on the eve of the coronation, which is scheduled to take place at Namirembe Diocese in Kampala on Wednesday.

The donation was delivered at Bulange, Mengo, by a delegation from the PLU, led by Michael Nuwagira, also known as Toyota, the PLU National Vice-Chairman. The cows were handed over to Anthony Wamala, the Minister in charge of Culture and Tourism in the Mengo government.

The delegation included Daudi Kabanda, PLU Secretary General; Ambassador Michael Katungi, PLU Director of External Affairs; Minister Balaam Barugahara, PLU National Vice Chairman for the Western Region; various Members of Parliament; and other PLU supporters. They met with Anthony Wamala in the cabinet room, who expressed gratitude for the gesture towards the Buganda Government and Ssabasajja Kabaka.

“The Ssabasajja Kabaka will greatly appreciate your gifts and your support for Buganda, including all the positive initiatives General Muhoozi has given to Mengo,” Wamala said. He assured the delegation of continued cooperation, emphasizing respect for the Kabaka of Buganda.

Chairman Toyota praised the Buganda Kingdom for its consistent hospitality towards the PLU. “This marks our second visit to the Buganda Kingdom this year, with the first being the Kabaka Birthday Run. PLU is a non-partisan, non-sectarian, and non-denominational civic organization that prioritizes the interests of the country. We appreciate the Buganda Kingdom for being a model of unity and patriotism,” Toyota remarked.

Buganda MPs Urge Unity in Celebration of Kabaka’s 31st Coronation Anniversary

In related news, Members of Parliament from the Buganda sub-region have called for unity among the Baganda people as they prepare to celebrate the 31st coronation anniversary of Ronald Muwenda Mutebi II, the Kabaka of Buganda. This appeal was made on Tuesday, July 30, during a press conference held in advance of the anniversary celebrations.

The call for unity was led by Muhammad Muwanga Kivumbi, the chairperson of the Buganda Caucus and MP for Butambala. Speaking to the media, Kivumbi emphasized the importance of standing together and preserving the cultural heritage of Buganda.

“As we celebrate, please keep all disputes aside, especially with the King present in the kingdom,” Kivumbi urged. “Our main objective should be unity among the Baganda. While disagreements may arise, future generations will benefit more from stories of harmony rather than conflicts. We should focus on the kingdom’s achievements and preserving our cultural norms and values,” he added.

Kivumbi expressed his approval of the youth’s growing interest in their culture and stressed the need to uphold the kingdom’s traditions and values. He congratulated the Kabaka on his 31st coronation anniversary and praised the leadership of the Buganda community, particularly Prime Minister (Katikkiro) Charles Peter Mayiga, for uniting the people and leading effectively in the Kabaka’s absence.

The legislators also expressed their gratitude to God for the Kabaka’s return to his homeland and prayed for his continued health and strength. They affirmed their loyalty to the throne and their commitment to promoting unity within the kingdom.

Parliamentary Commissioner Mathias Mpuuga, MP for Nyendo-Mukungwe in Masaka, also congratulated the Kabaka. Mpuuga praised the king’s guidance and wisdom, which have helped the kingdom navigate various challenges. “I congratulate the king; his wisdom has guided us through difficult times. We continue to pray for him and hope for more wisdom to lead us well,” Mpuuga stated.
