Ttabula is alleged to have masterminded the shooting that took the life of the Ndiga clan head. The accused individuals are facing charges of murder under sections 188 and 189 of the Penal Code Act Cap 120. If convicted, they could face the death penalty.

(Kampala) – A key suspect in the murder of Ndiga clan leader, Eng. Daniel Kakeedo Bbosa, is set to appear in court tomorrow, August 23, 2024. The suspect, Lujja Bbosa Ttabula, was arrested on Monday, August 19, after being on the run since the incident occurred earlier this year. State Attorney Caroline Mpumwire, of the Nateete/Lubaga Magistrate’s Court, informed the court on Thursday, August 22, that Ttabula would appear for the mention of his case.

Ttabula was apprehended at a hideout in Kimelika-Namulonge, Busikuma, by officers from the Crime Intelligence Directorate. His arrest comes months after the brutal killing of the clan leader, which occurred on February 25, 2024, in Kikandwa, Lungujja Rubaga Division, just a few meters from his residence. The victim, aged 72, was also the director of Transa Electricals and was shot dead in his car as he approached his home.

During the court session, State Attorney Mpumwire revealed that inquiries into the case are nearly complete, and she applied for a shorter adjournment to prepare the committal papers. The suspect will face the court tomorrow, where the charges against him will be formally mentioned.

Ttabula is not the only one facing charges related to the murder of Eng. Bbosa. Several other individuals, including Noah Lujja, Harriet Nakiguli, Milly Naluwenda, Joseph Nakabale, and Ezra Mayanja, have already appeared in court. These co-accused individuals are currently before Senior Principal Grade I Magistrate Adams Byarugaba at Nateete/Lubaga Magistrate’s Court. The court has adjourned their case until October 3, 2024.

The murder case has drawn significant attention, not just because of the high profile nature of the victim but also due to the shocking details that have emerged during the investigation. On July 30, 2024, police officers conducted a raid on shrines allegedly belonging to Ttabula in Mpigi District. During this raid, they recovered suspected human remains, including 17 skulls. The raid was prompted by a tip-off from a resident who had grown suspicious of a metallic suitcase in one of the shrines.

Ttabula is alleged to have masterminded the shooting that took the life of the Ndiga clan head. The accused individuals are facing charges of murder under sections 188 and 189 of the Penal Code Act Cap 120. If convicted, they could face the death penalty.

The case has garnered public interest, not just because of the tragic loss of life but also due to the involvement of President Yoweri Museveni. On March 4, 2024, President Museveni awarded a Nalubaale medal to Abdul Katabaazi, a plumber and motorcycle rider in Kikandwa Zone, Lungujja, Rubaga Division. Katabaazi was instrumental in capturing the assailants who killed Bbosa. The President praised Katabaazi for his bravery, likening him to a bush war fighter.

Court Resumes Case

On Thursday, August 22, 2024, the case involving five accused individuals resumed at Mwanga II Court in Kampala.

The accused—Noah Lujja (21), Harriet Nakiguli (40), Joseph Nakabale (47), Ezra Mayanja (44), and Milly Naluwenda (46)—were presented before Principal Grade One Magistrate Adams Byarugaba for the mention of their case. According to the charge sheet, the accused individuals come from various backgrounds: Lujja is a mason from Kabanga village in Mpigi Town Council, Nakiguli is a peasant from Nkere zone in Kawempe division, Nakabale is a painter from Gala village in Mpigi Town Council, and Mayanja resides in Kiganda zone, Kawempe division, Kampala district. Naluwenda holds the position of secretary at the Kisekwa Cultural Court of Buganda and resides in Kitunzi zone 7 in Rubaga division, Kampala district.

The resumption of this case follows the recent arrest of Luggya Bbosa Tabula, who is considered the prime suspect in the murder of Engineer Bbosa. Tabula was apprehended by a team of crime intelligence officers at his hideout in Kimelika-Namulonge, Busukuma sub-county in Wakiso district, just two days before the court session.

The case has garnered significant attention, particularly after the Police discovered suspected human remains, including 17 skulls, during a raid on shrines reportedly associated with Tabula. The shrines, located in Kabanga village, Mpigi district, were raided on July 30, 2024, following a tip-off from a resident who became suspicious of a metallic suitcase found in one of the shrines.

The prosecution alleges that the accused individuals, along with others still at large, unlawfully caused the death of Engineer Bbosa with malice aforethought on February 25, 2024, at Kikandwa, Lungujja, in Rubaga Division, Kampala district. The charges against them fall under sections 188 and 189 of the Penal Code Act Cap 120, which prescribes a maximum sentence of death upon conviction for murder.
