(Nairobi) – Kithure Kindiki has officially assumed the role of Deputy President of Kenya, pledging unwavering loyalty to President William Ruto and commitment to his new responsibilities. In a swearing in ceremony held on November 1, 2024, at the Kenyatta International Convention Centre (KICC) in Nairobi, Kindiki expressed his dedication to advancing Kenya’s economic and democratic growth under President Ruto’s leadership.
Kindiki, who has worked alongside Ruto for 20 years, described himself as a devoted student of the President’s approach, stating, “I have been a faithful student of yours for two decades. I have learned humility and loyalty and will not let you down in the new responsibilities you have entrusted to me.”
As Deputy President, Kindiki pledged to collaborate with other government officials to drive Kenya forward and create transformative economic and democratic changes. He expressed gratitude to President Ruto for the trust placed in him after previously serving as the Interior Minister for two years.
The swearing-in ceremony was held outside the KICC, with high-ranking officials, including President Ruto and Chief Justice Martha Koome, among those in attendance. Kindiki steps into the role previously held by Rigathi Gachagua, who was removed from office by the National Assembly in October.
