Museveni Urges Kisoro to Back Kabagyeni for Kisoro Woman MP

(Kisoro) – The National Resistance Movement (NRM) Party is intensifying its efforts to rally support for Rose Kabagyeni, the party’s flagbearer in the Kisoro District Woman Member of Parliament by-election. The campaign has been gaining momentum, with significant backing from President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni, who has personally engaged in several campaign activities in the area.

On Tuesday, President Museveni handed over the NRM flag to Kabagyeni shortly after holding a rally in Muramba Sub-county. During his address, the President urged the people of Kisoro to show overwhelming support for Kabagyeni in Thursday’s election. He emphasized the party’s commitment to Kisoro’s development, urging voters to back Kabagyeni as the best candidate to represent their interests.

Kabagyeni faces stiff competition, as she is contending with five other candidates in the race. However, the NRM party has pulled out all stops, with President Museveni spearheading a vigorous campaign to secure a win.

A day before the rally, NRM party officials, including members of the Central Executive Committee and area legislators, conducted town hall meetings across the five counties of Kisoro. These meetings were designed to engage local leaders and consolidate their support for Kabagyeni. Jacqueline Kyatuhaire, the NRM Deputy National Treasurer and head of campaigns, addressed party leaders during an event in Bufumbira South. She urged them to mobilize voters and ensure that the votes for Kabagyeni were protected at polling stations on election day.

The President also highlighted several development programs that the NRM government has implemented for the people of Kisoro, underscoring the party’s achievements. These efforts are aimed at persuading voters to support Kabagyeni, who is being positioned as the candidate who can continue the progress made by the NRM government in the region.
