President Museveni addressed the nation and provided an update on the UPDF operation in Congo. He informed the public that on October 4, 2023, Ugandan fighter-bombers conducted airstrikes in the Mambasa territory area of Congo, targeting three locations located at varying distances from the Ntoroko border.

The President commended the efforts of the Air-force, the Special Duties Regiment (SDR), and the UPDF for their role in protecting both Congolese and Ugandan citizens from the activities of armed groups. He emphasized that these groups had been responsible for attacks on Ugandans and were now facing a coordinated response.

President Museveni noted the precision of the airstrikes and mentioned that the exact number of casualties among the armed groups would be determined later. He warned that those who believed they could harm Ugandans and remain safe would face consequences.

The President also expressed gratitude to President Tshisekedi’s government for their collaboration in addressing the security situation, highlighting the mutual benefit for both nations.
