Soroti City, Uganda – All is set for the remarkable Ateker Reunion Festival at Soroti Sports Ground in Soroti City. H.E. President Yoweri Museveni Kaguta is expected to officially launch the event, and preparations are well underway.
The festival will run from November 27th to 29th, 2024, featuring various performances. Delegations from Ethiopia, South Sudan, Turkey, South Africa, Kenya, and other countries are already present.
Several dignitaries, including cabinet ministers, Members of Parliament (such as Olobo Jamea Dubai and Elalo Lalo of Kaberamaido), heads of statutory bodies, institutional heads, permanent secretaries, and members of the various Ateker cluster groups from Teso, Jopadhola, and Karamoja sub-regions, are on the ground. The Emorimor of Teso, Papa Royal Highness Otaya Rafail of Kumam Kingdom, is also present.
Hon. Minister for Gender, Labour, and Social Development Betty Amongi Akena has been commended for the impressive setup of the ceremony, which is the first of its kind in Uganda and hosted by Soroti City.
Vice President Maj. Alupo Jessica and senior security officers, such as Gen. Peter Elwelu, have already arrived at the function.
