Okot Demike Abidongo Announces Candidacy for Agengo Sub-county LCV Councilor in 2026

Okidi Patrick, Agago  UPC die-hard supporter, Mr. Okot Mike Abidongo, has declared his intention to contest for the position of Agengo Sub-county LCV Councilor in Agago District during the 2026 general elections. Abidongo stated that he will begin his political journey under the UPC Party ticket as the year 2026 draws nearer.

While speaking to The Ankole Times newspaper on Saturday, Abidongo promised to prioritize education, especially skills development, to boost future economic opportunities for the people of Agengo Sub-county in Agago District. He added that his leadership would focus on improving the road network, enhancing healthcare facilities, and ensuring access to clean water for all residents of Agengo Sub-county.




Other key aspects of his agenda include promoting transparency and accountability, ensuring that governance processes are made more open and transparent in line with the needs of the people.




“Together, let’s build a brighter future for Agengo Sub-county by truly empowering our people and enriching our community at all levels, including villages and parishes,” Abidongo added. “Leadership is not about titles; it’s about making a difference in people’s lives. It is for this reason that I want a prosperous Agengo Sub-county where everyone will have access to quality education, healthcare, and economic opportunities, irrespective of color, tribe, religion, or party affiliation,” he said, adding that he will lead a community that is united and proud of its heritage.




Abidongo promised to foster a culture of transparency, real accountability, and good governance in Agengo Sub-county, particularly in all the villages and parishes at all times.

  • To support local organizations that provide care and support to orphans in the sub-county.
  • Advocate for policies that protect the rights and welfare of widows and youth.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to provide educational and economic opportunities for all people, including PWDs.
  • Promote community-based initiatives that support orphaned children and the elderly.
  • Work with local leaders to expedite the payment of war debt claims to beneficiaries in Agengo Sub-county.
  • Advocate for government support and compensation, as well as promote transparency and accountability on behalf of war claimants in Agengo Sub-county for a better tomorrow.
