Senior NRM Cadre Ojede Ziegler Bobson has declared his interest in contesting for the position of Moroto County MP in the 2026 general elections. In a press briefing held on Wednesday, December 11, 2024, in Alebtong, Ojede, a well-known and influential NRM figure in the Lango sub-region, assured the people of Moroto County in Alebtong District that he is fully prepared to run for the position.
“I am the right person to take Moroto County forward,” said Ojede Ziegler Bobson, the Moroto County MP aspirant on the NRM ticket.
Ojede emphasized that, if elected, he would focus on fulfilling the promises and commitments of the NRM government to the people of Moroto County. During an exclusive interview with media representatives from Lira City, he mentioned key issues affecting the constituency, including the poor road network, health sector challenges, and the need for improvements in education standards.
“I am committed to reminding the government about the poor roads in Moroto County, the need for better health services, and the improvement of educational standards,” Ojede said.
The aspiring MP also assured voters that, if elected to the 12th Parliament of Uganda, he would fast-track the implementation of wealth creation programs such as the Parish Development Model (PDM), Youth Livelihood Program (YLP), Emyooga, and others aimed at improving household incomes and driving socio-economic transformation in the region. He emphasized that these programs align with the objectives set by President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni.
“I want to commend President Museveni for ensuring these programs reach grassroots beneficiaries, unlike the opposition, which aims to frustrate them,” Ojede added.
Ojede noted that the people of Moroto County have been missing out on key government programs due to a lack of information, a gap he intends to fill. He also called for the elevation of Alebtong Health Centre IV to a district general hospital to improve healthcare services, particularly for pregnant mothers and the general population.
On the issue of clean water, Ojede assured the electorate of his commitment to work with the government to extend clean and safe water to the villages, parishes, and sub-counties of Moroto County.
“This is my promise to the people of Alebtong,” he said.
From his assessment, Ojede pointed out several challenges faced by the people, including a lack of electricity, bad roads, and inadequate access to clean water in some villages. He believes that, if elected, he will address these issues within a limited time.
“I am confident that if elected to Parliament, I will tackle these challenges one by one,” Ojede stated during the interview.
Ojede Bobson Ziegler is a well-known NRM supporter who has frequently defended the party on political radio talk shows in Lira City. Based on this background, he is widely regarded as a likely NRM flagbearer for Moroto County in the 2026 elections.
