The Masaka District Assistant Resident District Commissioner (A-RDC) Omar Rusagara has reminded the people of Masaka to ensure that President Yoweri Museveni is reelected in 2026 to guarantee the continuation of top poverty alleviation program- PDM.
Rusagara’s strongly about worded warning was contained in his end of year message for the people of Masaka ahead of the Christmas and end of year festivities, on Friday, 20th December 2024.
Rusagara was responding to concerns from the people on the gaps on the implementation of PDM, including extortionate conducts from some officials. The President’s man has shot into the limelight for his uncompromising stance on PDM officials who mismanage PDM funds which has resulted in the arrest of some parish chiefs and parish agents.
While responding to accusations of witch-hunting some PDM officials, the RDC insisted that he is yet to consider relaxing the noose for the inefficient officials who he says are making the country to lag behind and frustrating the president in his commitment to economically empowering the population by pulling every one out of poverty.
He called upon all stakeholders, including political and public service leaders to collectively take part in enhancing accountability for the success of the PDM project.
Rusagara also explained that the government intends to continue injecting money into the program, explaining that shillings five hundred million has been earmarked for every parish in the country over the fiver year period of the current NRM Manifesto commitment. He added that over a period of ten years, each parish will have acquired one billion shillings, which he notes has an immense potential to drastically transform every part of the country.
Rusagara, however, reminded the country that the continued supply of the PDM funds can only be guaranteed by re electing president Museveni when the country next goes to the polls early 2026.
” The government is unshakably committed to ensuring the continued disbursement of the PDM funds into our parishes. With shillings 500 Millions for every parish over every five year term, it will have accumulated to a billion shillings over ten years,” he revealed
To ensure the program continues, however, you will have to trust President Museveni with another term because you can not be sure what another person comes with.” He added.
