Detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) have apprehended a 23-year-old Ugandan nanny in connection with a robbery at her employer’s residence in Eastleigh, Nairobi.

Nabalayo Everline Loice, who had been on the run for several weeks following the incident, was arrested in Kariokor while attempting to flee to Uganda by bus.

“Nabalayo Everline Loice, 23, has been taken into custody by detectives from DCI Starehe following a robbery incident that occurred on November 1, 2024,” the DCI stated in a press release.

According to a report filed at Pangani Police Station, Nabalayo, while working alongside another housemaid, intentionally opened the door and allowed an unidentified assailant armed with a hammer to enter the residence.

In a shocking turn of events, the suspects allegedly assaulted the other housemaid, leaving her for dead in the bathroom.

They subsequently made off with a significant amount of valuables, including a gold set worth Sh210,000, a Lenovo XY laptop valued at Sh110,000, and an Infinix phone priced at Sh15,000.

“After an extensive manhunt, detectives finally apprehended Nabalayo in Kariokor while she was attempting to escape on a bus bound for Uganda,” the DCI stated.

The suspect is currently in police custody and will be arraigned in court. The search for her accomplice, who remains at large, is ongoing.
