Amolatar, Uganda – Isaac Odongo Ekuu has declared his intention to contest for the Kyoga North constituency seat under the NRM party ticket. He stated that if elected in 2026, he will have a clear agenda in Parliament and will focus on implementing and following up on government programs for the benefit of the people.
Isaac Odongo hails from Opali Sub-county, Kyoga North constituency, in Amolatar District.
“At my age, if I am elected to Parliament, I will be directly responsible for implementing and monitoring government programs, such as building schools, health centers, and ensuring that these programs are well followed up,” he told the media in a press briefing from Lira City on Tuesday, outlining his profile and work experience in various departments across the country, which has provided him with significant exposure.
He emphasized that poverty eradication should be a key focus for politicians, stressing that politicians should meet people where they are, at the grassroots level, instead of waiting for people to seek them out. He suggested that Amolatar has the potential to be a major food basket for the country if an irrigation system is installed and farming is revitalized, with an emphasis on chicken rearing and goat farming.
Odongo further promised that, if elected, he would use half of the money allocated to each MP to purchase a brand-new vehicle to develop the constituency. He would prioritize addressing the most pressing issues facing the community in Kyoga North constituency.
“I can tell you, I will be the first Member of Parliament of its kind. In the first 90 days that I am in Parliament, I will come back to the constituency and be a leader with a clear calendar, frequently consulting with the electorate in Kyoga North consecutively,” he added.
He also highlighted the importance of electing the right leader, urging the people to vote for him not only in the NRM primaries but also based on his age, ideas, and connections. He stressed that his main focus would be on transforming the lives of people in Kyoga North, particularly through the development of the farming sector.
