Gen. Saleh Intervenes in Nakaseke South Poll Row, Meets Luttamaguzi Over Fraud Claims

The Coordinator of Operation Wealth Creation, Salim Saleh, has held face-to-face talks with Nakaseke South legislator Paul Ssemakula Luttamaguzi following persistent social media and mainstream media accusations linking him to alleged electoral malpractices.

Luttamaguzi, who contested on the National Unity Platform ticket, has been publicly claiming that his defeat was orchestrated through irregularities he believes were fueled by powerful political actors.

According to sources familiar with the meeting, Gen. Saleh summoned the legislator to present evidence backing his claims. During the closed-door discussions, Luttamaguzi reportedly tabled documents and details which he says prove he was cheated by Charles Nsereko Basajjassubi, the National Resistance Movement candidate declared winner.

Sources say Saleh expressed displeasure with Luttamaguzi’s decision to air grievances through media platforms instead of seeking dialogue privately.

He nevertheless reviewed submissions from both sides and acknowledged that there were indications of electoral irregularities in the race. He advised the rival camps to pursue an amicable resolution if possible, while signaling readiness to back Luttamaguzi in pursuit of justice should reconciliation efforts collapse.

Reports further indicate that Nsereko is now under pressure to negotiate a settlement. He is said to be considering compensating Luttamaguzi for campaign resources spent, in a bid to defuse the dispute and avoid escalation.

Efforts to reach the concerned parties for official comment were ongoing by press time.
