Sources inform The Ankole Times that the results will be released at State House Nakasero. The initial release date was Friday, February 7th, but was postponed due to prior commitments of the Minister of Education and Sports.
This year’s exams were notable as they marked a historic shift in Uganda’s educational framework. Candidates were assessed under the new lower secondary curriculum for the first time. To ensure a smooth transition, candidates sat for two separate sets of exams: one under the new curriculum and another, the “Transition Examination,” under the old curriculum.
A total of 379,748 candidates sat for the exams. Of these, 369,601 were the first to be assessed under the new curriculum, while 10,147 took the Transition Examination.
A UNEB official noted, “In addition to the pioneer candidates of the new curriculum, we have another group sitting for the Transitional Examination under the old curriculum.”
The UCE results are highly anticipated by students, parents, and educators nationwide, as they significantly impact students’ future academic paths.
UNEB’s theme for the 2024 exams, “Embracing Security and Holistic Assessment of Learners in a Dynamic Environment,” underscores the board’s dedication to adapting to the evolving educational landscape.
