It is important to note that following the change from the old curriculum, UNEB revised the previous grading structure that included distinctions, credits, passes, and failures. This system was replaced with a scorecard format ranging from A to D. However, this new method has posed some challenges for those accustomed to the old system. Below, we clarify what each letter represents in terms of the results:

  • A – Exceptional Achievement (Corresponding to D1, D2)
  • B – Outstanding Performance (Corresponding to C3, C4)
  • C – Satisfactory Performance (Corresponding to C5, C6)
  • D – Basic Understanding (Corresponding to P7, P8)
  • E – Elementary Understanding (Corresponding to F9).

UNEB has indicated that a candidate is eligible for the UCE certificate if they achieve at least a D competency level grade in one of the subjects taken.
